Our Story

Why BITAC?

I always thought that my career path was quite unique. But more and more, I realise that I have a lot in common with other IT architects.

Already from a young age, I was passionate about technology and I realized quite early in my life that I would do ‘something with computers’ in my professional career. I was lucky enough to turn my hobby into my profession and I worked as a software engineer, system administrator and integration expert, which evolved into the term ‘architect’ as the breadth, complexity and variation in the problems that I worked on, increased.

I really enjoy digging into complex issues and helping to crack the tough nuts by explaining the short and long term consequences of certain technology decisions. I helped friends, family and some small companies when they struggled with IT.

Although I am working as a freelancer, the market forces of the last 5-10 years have pushed me into long term contracts with big customers. I still have the passion for my job, but I do miss the short term challenges as well.

Finally, since COVID, networking and interaction with colleagues have decreased unfortunately. Which means less opportunities for real networking.

And that’s why I created BITAC:

  • because I am convinced that exchanging ideas and sharing experiences is beneficial

  • because I am convinced there are a lot of other IT architects that have a similar attitude and point of view

  • because I am convinced that in the long run, a network of IT architects can prove its value in the market

I want this to be an open community. Not bound by formal function titles, certifications or adherence to a certain vendor, but by a passion about how technology can improve organizations, by the drive to bring clarity in the complexity and by an intrinsic desire to share knowledge.
